[NOW ON] 11 young established Korean artists to show works @gallery

It is time to see what the young 80s of Korea make and feature! 18~31 October, Gallery is filled with the 11 different suggestions.

Gallery ARTPRESSO presents 11 young established Korean artists in a group show First Thing First (18~31 October, 10:00 ~18:00 open, but every mondays closed). Refined sculptors as Minkyu KANG b.1980 of '빛을 머금은 사슴 (a deer, light-keeping / 2024)' and Wonsoon CHOI b.1979 of '행복을 꿈꾸는 가족 (A family, dreaming of happiness / 2024) are leading the young group of artists who differ from one another but also stay connected with.

Dool YOU (or phonetically spelling YOU-DooL) b.1981 among others is highly appreciated by audience for his free imaginary characters and relevant small episodes on canvas, that are probable to move instantly into digital screen animated alive. A critic from Milano recently is very much fond of his works, and has put the artist's name in his note when exposed to the actual pieces at a fair. Also, Donghee KWAK b.1981 shows playful scenes that are likely touched by kids, featuring cats with dolphins flying over a town decorated starry and flora.

Meanwhile, Kihoon PARK b.1980 refers serious skills and themes converted into a significant originality in the frames. The sky-scrapers in the background look timid, as so-recognized beings as polar-bears, penguins, and zebras stroll about or gaze at us at front by big trees or grass-and-flower-filled spaces as a symbolized security-zone.

Rather calm and quite balance would be found in two artists : Hoejun KIM b.1984 and Moonsun KIM b.1986. Strong sense of inertia delivered by sculptural and pictorial works from both artists might be understood with natures and personalities of the good.

On the second floor of the gallery, a space with a small coffee table and couches, another 4 artists would welcome the audience : Sewoong LEE b.1984, Junseok PARK b.1986, Jongyoon RYU b.1987, and Dongju GWON b.1990.

Striking modernity of Junseok PARK would seize sights and hearts at first. The variations of compositions and colours from the artist have been applied to diverse genres of arts already, as in hot collaboration with Lee Sang Bong of fashion (2020) and The Maison of home deco (2022). PARK presents some of his "translate" series and "shadow in the morning" series in this group show First Thing First .

Featuring 11 mindful contemporary artists in one show is perhaps difficult to conform a flow, full of hyper-energy of complexity. However, Sewoong LEE puts a small harmonic connectivity in the air with his brushing. "공간을 그리다 (Space drawing)", the 1984-born artist's consistent works, will moderate the space with in- and out- breathing between the each individual art works in the group.

Turning into another drawing-like steel sculptures in the form of wall-reliefs by Dongju GWON would lead the audience straightly into the questions about us, humans in reality, as organic beings.

And then, Jongyoon RYU would answer and conclude the questions in his own ways : LOVE, just like blooming flowers, as in his work entitled as "꽃(ccot; Flower)".
